ON THE CROSS

Sin had me bound in its grasp of deceit
Blinding my eyes to the truth
With a pretense of power and denial of defeat
Claimed victory without any proof
But a voice from heaven said this one is mine
I have come seeking the lost
Then He opened my eyes to a moment in time
I saw Jesus God's Son on the Cross
On the Cross Jesus died
On the Cross He laid His power aside
The price was paid restitution was made
Love was displayed on the Cross
Now we need never experience the pain
Of our sin He left not a trace I
The wrath of the Father the guilt and the shame
He bore it all in our place
Now a voice from heaven cries "Come unto me"
And I will give you rest
How can this be we've been set free
At the Gross where God gave His best

Amidst the beauty of steeples and bells
The Cross stands alone for all time
Not just because of the story it tells
Not as a memory or sign
But the destiny of all that we see
And things not yet seen and things lost
Is determined today and for eternity
By their response to the Cross
